At the Faulkner Gallery in the Santa Barbara Art Association’s February Show, jurist Patricia Chidlaw accepted “Diamonds are NOT a Girl’s Best Friend” for the month of February. The Faulkner is in the SB Public Library.
The Porch Gallery’s “XOXO” exhibit, an homage to romantic love, runs through February and three of my paintings, “Two Things Everybody Likes”, “Filled with Desire”, and ““Yes, She Said, Yes.” The Love Story of Molly and Leopold Bloom” are gracing the walls. Porch is located on Santa Claus Lane in Carpinteria.
Gallery 113 February Show has “Quarks: A Family Portrait” (not to be missed, the title alone should make you want to see this), and “Pier”. Gallery 113 is located on State Street in Santa Barbara.
My solo show “Art with Attitude” is on display throughout February in the Faulkner Gallery East Room. Seventeen major paintings are on display, including “Kokopelli”, “Minimal Sun”, “Power Play”, and “Jack’s Space”. These recent paintings are lighter than previous work, open up the canvas, and let the art breathe. The Faulkner is open daily and is located in the SB Public Library building.
I will be on site Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3 to 5 pm.
Please come by anytime during the month of February, the gallery is open daily 9 to 5. The opening reception is First Thursday, February 6, from 5 to 8 pm.
The Abstract Eight opened its first show – of many I am confident – to good reviews. The exhibition, “Purely Abstract” was curated by Susan Tibbles and was held from January 10 to February 8, 2014, at the SB Tennis Club Gallery. “Three Days in the Desert”, “Fred and Ginger”, and “Stiff” were my entries. The Abstract Eight is a new group of abstract artists in Santa Barbara who plan on exhibiting together throughout the upcoming years. Members include Karen Pendergrass, Maria Miller, Scott Miller, and Sara Lytle.
Gallery 113’s January Show included “Revisiting Vincent’s Wheat Field”, and “After Elvis Left the Building”.
The Carpinteria Valley Arts Council’s Gallery 855 exhibition “Bon Appetit” is on display during January to the end of February of 2014; Tony Askew juried in my painting “New York City Bistro, c. 1970”. This show is a very tasty treat.
The Abstract Art Collective’s “Holiday Show” was held during December and January at the College of Law on Victoria Street in Santa Barbara. Susan Bush, Curator of Contemporary Art at Sullivan Goss, juried in my painting “Swirling Universe (Side View)”, and awarded it Second Place in the exhibition.
The SBAA’s December Show at the Faulkner included “Kadinsky’s Nephew”, and “Monet’s Niece” – genetically unrelated paintings, of course.
Gallery 113’s December Show included “Inside NASA HQ”, and “Angel Wings”.
The SB Tennis Club Gallery, curated by Susan Tibbles, had a November to December exhibition entitled “Angels”, in which my painting “Michael and Gabriel” was displayed.
The SB Sculpture’s Guild September Show at the Faulkner was juried by Nathan Vonk, Curator of Sculpture for Sullivan Goss and accepted three paintings, including “The Weight of Mercy” and “If Only Elpis Had Escaped Pandora’s Box”.
Through September into November, the SBAA exhibited at the Bronfman Jewish Community Center in Santa Barbara, and jurist Mike Eliason accepted “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea”.
Four paintings were on display at the Bacara Resort over the Labor Day weekend in Goleta for the Abstract Art Collective’s 8 x 8 Show, including “Everything Japanese” and “Telling Secrets”.
The SBAA September Show at Gallery 113 displayed “Passionate Dancers” and “Escape of the Origami”.
Rick will have his painting “Filled with Desire” in ArtPrize, perhaps the largest art exhibition in the country feturing hundreds of artists at dozens of venues, held in Grand Rapids, MI, from September 15th through October 3rd, 2013. The work will be on display at Pub 43, 43 Division Ave S, in the heart of downtown.
